Key Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed their Class 12 or equivalent from a recognized board in any stream (Arts, Science, or Commerce). Some states/institutions may also accept a relevant Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks.
- Minimum Marks: A minimum of 50% in the qualifying examination is generally required for the general category. Reserved category candidates usually need a minimum of 45%.
- Age Limit: The age criteria vary by state and institution.
- Minimum Age: Usually between 17 and 18 years.
- Maximum Age: Generally ranges from 28 to 35 years, with relaxations for reserved categories as per government norms.
- Nationality/Domicile: Candidates must be Indian citizens. For state-level admissions, a domicile certificate of that particular state is often required to be eligible for reservation benefits.
- Other Requirements: Candidates must be in good mental and physical health. Proficiency in the regional language may also be a requirement for some state-specific programs.
Admission ProcessAdmission is conducted through two main methods depending on the state and institution:
- Merit-Based: Selection is based solely on the academic marks obtained in Class 10, Class 12, and/or graduation.
- Entrance Exam: Many states and universities conduct their own entrance exams (e.g., Bihar D.El.Ed Entrance, SCERT Delhi entrance, RIE CEE).
